Glen Garioch 2011

8 Year Old Single Malt

Cask Number:

#2697

ABV:

55%

Cask Type:

Refill Bourbon Hogshead

Bottles:

tbc

Colour:

Light Amber with gold highlights

Nose:

Oaky, nutty with a touch of toasted almond. All the Highland characters are in abundance.  The crisp sweet dryness of the toasted barley, the mellow light smokey notes from the charred oak leading you into sweet vanilla, caramelised by the toasting of the staves. A hint of melon & pear, drizzled with warm vanilla. At this age the harmony between the spirit of the oak is perfect and provides a platform on which the other, more gentle flavours can evolve. Like river bank flowers, lily and marigold, mint and heather in bloom.

Palate:

Hints of hazelnut with a coating of smoking peat and also a biscuity sweetness. However, it’s the smoothness of the texture of this medium bodied whisky that is really beautiful. It coats the palate with an almost syrup like mouthfeel.

Finish:

Lingers long after the glass is empty. A rare and wonderful spirit seldom seen. A single malt that is in its prime and one you will remember for its true North East character.
