Dràm Mòr is an independent spirits bottler established in 2019 by husband and wife team Kenny and Viktorija Macdonald. The company started as an export agency for Scottish brands, but as demand for independent, high-quality spirits increased, we decided it was time to venture into the world of independent bottling. We provide bespoke single cask spirits to 14 countries worldwide and were delighted to grow the business portfolio to include a range of spirits along with carefully selected whiskies. Today, our products can be found in specialty spirits retailers, Michelin Star restaurants, and bespoke wine and gourmet outlets worldwide. Viktorija and Kenny both have backgrounds working for Whisky companies and are the co-founders of the Mòr Whisky Club held at Oran Mòr, Glasgow.

At Dràm Mòr we not only have a knack for finding the right spirit, but we also pride ourselves on our cask selection. We will taste our spirits and find the cask that best reflects the potential of that spirit, as we source sherry casks along with ports, dessert wines, red wines, rum, cognac and the finest ex-bourbon.

We believe we are unique at Dràm Mòr because we hold no preconceptions about aged spirits. We know some will extoll the virtues of Scotch whisky, others are rabid about rum, Armagnac is the finest spirit in the world, as is Cognac as is bourbon and everyone is correct. We firmly believe that anything that comes out of a cask can be truly unique, utterly delightful and, most importantly, interesting. With this open mindset, we source and bottle the unique, the wonderful and the fascinating day in and day out.

Dràm Mòr

Meaning ‘Big Whisky’ translated from Scottish Gaelic

Dumbarton Rock

Dràm Mòr proudly originates from the once highly influential town of Dumbarton, Scotland. This town rests in the shadow of its iconic Rock, Dumbarton’s medieval Castle, an ancient capital of the Kingdom of Strathclyde, boasts such whisky legacy as Ballantine’s and is home to Pernod Ricard’s Chivas. Dràm Mòr is delighted to bring back the historic whisky heritage to Dumbarton and start a new chapter for the industry in this prominent location.

As of 2020, Dràm Mòr have increased their portfolio to include specially selected rums. We have been looking abroad for interesting spirits and without a doubt one of the most interesting spirits out there is rum with few rules, lots of different ideas and almost zero snobbery. We started with perhaps the best distillery of them all, Foursquare, over the years we have bottled a few of their casks and over the coming years, we are hoping to bottle a lot more, with their wonderful spirit and superlative casks they are true artists. But we are not limited to one distillery, no matter how great it is, we love all rums equally, from the dunder and funk of Jamaica to the grassy dryness of St Lucia, the range is what makes rum great, and we make it greater by bottling single casks, sometimes after a little extra ageing in some well-chosen wood in the cool and forgiving Scottish climate.

Guatemala Rum

Dràm Mòr is delighted to be broadening our horizons to the world of Armagnac, the oldest brandy (and liquor) recorded to be still distilled in the world. Between the 15th and 17th centuries, Armagnac was traded on the markets of Southern France. Subsequently, Dutch merchants began promoting the trade more widely and providing or financing alembics. The first record of Armagnac distillation comes only in 1646, with the purchase of an alembic. In the following century, Armagnac was served in the Palace of Versailles and by 1800, most of the Armagnac region was dedicated to the production of the brandy. In 1818, a patent for a continuous distillation alembic led to the main difference between Armagnac and Cognac, which is double distilled in batches.

Our branding and label design were created with the help of Lithuanian artist Iveta Šmidtaite, who has illustrated our original mountain logo. Whilst local Glaswegian designer Joanne Smith works on the brand’s ongoing development and marketing.
